Monument Valley Shadows

I don't believe anyone wouldn't be bowled over by the scale and beauty of this place, particularly at sunset. More "Maynard Dixonish" than my usual style, the scenery demanded this kind of treatment. 8 " x 10" SOLD

Monuments

Monument Valley is an inspiring, awesome place. You won't believe the scale, how incredibly huge these monuments are! Like many places in the Southwest, this is Native American territory, located on the Arizona/Utah border, quite close to Four Corners. Worth the trip. 24" x 32"

Dawn Behind the Bunkhouse

Staying at the Maynard Dixon Ranch, courtesy of the Thunderbird Foundation, I'm up at first light, no coffee, jeans pulled on under my nightie, trying to capture the first light as the dawn starts marching down the ridge. For a look at the scene a half hour later, see Morning Advances... Not for sale

Morning Advances

This painting takes place about half an hour after "Dawn Behind the Bunkhouse"...as the morning
advances down the ridge. Utah is gorgeous, from the scrub juiniper to the red cliffs to the rich farmlands.

Thundercell from I-40:

We saw this incredible storm shortly after leaving Holbrook, and followed it for a hundred miles. It was a massive monster, and we couldn't help taking photos...any more than I could help painting it later. SOLD
