  Out of Many, One

This title, snitched from our currency, reflects my interest in how all the rivulets bounce and splash into one stream as they race for the sea. As with others in the Sedona series, this has a more contemporary flavor than my traditional work.
24 " x 30 " unframed.

  Carmel River I

And now for something completely different! An acrylic painting that reflects not just my fascination with water surfaces, but my interest in a contemporary version of them. This scene is actually of the river I grew up next to.
22 " x 30 " unframed.

  Evening, Hawley Lake

A rough study for a larger painting of the magic of a Hawley Lake evening. No two sunsets are alike, although all are exquisite.
10" x 12" framed.

  Evening, Hawley Lake II

The larger version, with more pomp and circumstance, still capturing the Hawley Lake area, and the setting sun catching some areas like the trees below the dam, and leaving others untouched. 24 " x 30 "

  Evening, Salt River Canyon

Salt River Canyon is the highlight of any trip to Tucson or Phoenix. Erosion has played its magic here, as it did with the Grand Canyon, resulting in wonderful rock formations that are particularly exquisite at sunrise and sunset. The rock itself is quite fractured, both laterally and vertically, and peeks through the thin layer of brush and trees. 11" x 14" framed.

  Blue Heron

Part of the Pink Rain series. This blue heron waited for me, though the soft sunset rain might have had something to do with it. Just another magical Hawley Lake evening. 8 " x 10" framed.

  Aspens, River Reservoir

Painting with the other artists from "Tucson Plein Air Painters in the White Mountains" at the River Reservoir near Greer, close to the New Mexico border. Note the bright sunlight - after several days of rain, lightning, and thunder! Sometimes the weather just won't cooperate. 11" x 14" framed.

  Hawley Lake, Green Shadows

The last day the Tucson Plein Air Painters were in town, I took a group up to Hawley Lake. Always wanted to paint these green shadows. Besides, it kept me out of the wind, which has turned the lake a deep blue. Some of the contemporary flavor of my larger work sneaked into my plein air work, too.
12 " x 16" framed.

  Slide Rock I I

Second of the Oak Creek Canyon series, and purchased before it was even completed. The series will be focusing on an up-close view of the beatuful rocks, rivulets, and refections in Sedona. 24" x 28" framed.

  Slide Rock I

First of a series on Oak Creek Canyon in winter. Slide Rock is a favorite place for visitors to Sedona. The series will be focusing on an up-close view of the beatuful rocks, rivulets, and refections. 24" x 28" framed.

Reflections I - Oak Creek Canyon

Less of a closeup than the others of Oak Creek Canyon, but an intimate look nonetheless at a beautiful reflecting pool - the surrounding woods have winter colors, not like the greens and golds of other seasons in Sedona.
22" x 44" framed.

  Carmel Valley Nursery

A visit to my homeland in Carmel Valley meant we had to stop by the old Begonia Gardens, now owned by someone else and no longer specializing in begonias, but lush nonetheless. This painting looks a bit different in style for me, even though it is all gesture, a hallmark of the Oak Creek Canyon series. I loved the subject. 24" x 36 " gallery wrap .

Millpond at McNary II

Just before the aspens turn, the fields turn bright yellow with little yellow Goldeneye daisies, millions of them! The abandoned millpond at McNary was exquisite. The old mill is always a wonderful place to paint, and I like the way the land lays out.
9 " x 12" framed.
