Rachel Pettit has lived in various parts of the western US and recently moved to Eagar, AZ from South Dakota. Her professional painting career started almost 20 years ago with watercolors, but now she prefers painting “en plein air” (literally open air) using oil paints on board or canvass. This technique allows her to capture the essence or spirit of the scene in a fresh, spontaneous manner. Training has come through workshops with several of the nations top artists including George Carlson, Delbert Gish, William Reese, and Scott Christensen. She considers her constant dedication to painting to be the most important element of her artistic development.
