These flowers, captured at the Palapas Nursery in Palm Springs, entranced me, but I haven't a clue what they are, so I borrowed the name from a friend who identifies all mystery flowers as "Gloriolas." 14" x 11"

Barnacle Flowers

We've called them Barnacle flowers for years, since they look like gorgeous blue barnacles, but a trip through a friend's wildflower book identifies something like them called a "Bottle Gentian."

Palapas Nursery in Palm Springs is artist-friendly. What a wonderful place, full of flowers, artisans working at their booths, all kinds of bird houses - and wildlife. We even saw little rabbits running around. Plein air.
